It's hard to stand out at the Miami Boat Show. After all, this annual event is one of the largest, busiest boat shows in the world. But stand out is exactly what Suzuki Marine did, capturing plenty of attention from the boating press, the industry and thousands of consumers.

This attention stemmed from hard work that actually started before the show, during a two-day photo video shoot to get exciting, action photos and footage of boats powered by Suzuki outboards. These highly valuable images will be used by the boating media for articles, as well as by Suzuki Marine, dealers and boat builders for advertisements, catalogs and television commercials over the coming year.

Before the show opened, Suzuki Marine also filmed a "video tour" of each of the Suzuki-powered boats that was in the water and ready for demonstrations. This video, hosted by noted boating writer and television personality Capt. Chris Kelley, was running throughout the show in the Suzuki Marine exhibit, inviting people to come down and take a test ride. According to Suzuki representatives and dealers working the booth, this video was very well received.

Suzuki Marine's press hospitality tent was again a big hit with magazine editors and writers from around the nation and even around the world. Members of the press used this convenient Miami location to relax, visit with Suzuki Marine marketing representatives, discuss editorial opportunities and enjoy some good food and refreshments. After several successful years, the Suzuki hospitality tent has become the press corps' base of operations when down on the waterfront.

Suzuki's hospitality tent was also home to a special event this year - a press luncheon to introduce the new 246DC dual-console catamaran boat from World Class Catamarans. Dozens of writers were on hand to hear opening comments from Suzuki Marine Marketing Director Larry Vandiver, followed by a preview of this new model by World Class President Forrest Munden. After the luncheon, writers were invited to take a demo drive of this new boat, powered by twin Suzuki 140EFI outboards.

In fact, each of the 10 Suzuki-powered boats was kept very busy - taking out members of the press as well as interested consumers. Because of this activity, Suzuki-powered boats will be covered in feature articles in top publications such as Boating Magazine, Motor Boating & Sailing, Trailer Boats, Boating World, Salt Water Sportsman, Sport Fishing and many more.

Following the show, Suzuki Marine took writers from The Fisherman, Boating World, Florida Sportsman and Salt Water Sportsman down to Key West to fish aboard Suzuki-powered boats. Under the direction of three of Key West's best fishing guides, our group caught tarpon up to 125 pounds as well as blackfin tuna, African pompano, jacks, grouper and other hard-fighting fish. All the writers had a great time, and this trip will be appearing in magazine articles and photographs later in the year.
