BREA, CA (August 8, 2000) – With the introduction of Suzuki’s 90 and 115 horsepower four-stroke outboards for 2001, boaters no longer have to choose between raw power and clean, efficient performance. Now, they can have it all in these sleek, compact four-stroke models from Suzuki – the world leader in fuel-injected four-stroke technology.

The compact size, power and efficiency of these advanced new outboards make them ideal for a wide variety of fresh and saltwater boating applications, from walleye and bass fishing boats to family pontoon and deck boats to serious bluewater fishing machines. They already meet 2006 Federal Emissions standards and qualify for the California Air Resources Board (CARB) 3-Star Ultra-Low Emissions Sticker.

Suzuki’s new four-cylinder, 1950cc outboards are smooth and reliable, and incorporate a host of innovative design features that reduce size and weight while developing maximum torque and power.

An offset drive shaft allows the engine’s center of gravity to shift forward, giving these outboards not only better balance on the transom, but also a smaller profile. Suzuki’s innovative powerhead design – with dual overhead cams, four-valves-per-cylinder and an oil bathed, self-adjusting chain-driven valve train positioned below the powerhead – permits a smaller cowling and optimum clearance within the motor as well. A single, two-speed ram power tilt and trim system makes these outboards even lighter.

As compact and streamlined as they are, the Suzuki 90 and 115 four- strokes are powerful machines. These four-stroke engines develop plenty of torque and utilize a 2.59:1 gear ratio – the lowest of any motor in this class. This means you can swing a larger pitch prop for blazing hole shots without sacrificing top-end speed. Performance and durability are further enhanced by the heavy-duty prop shaft and redesigned hydrodynamic lower unit, which cuts through the water with less drag.

Both the 90 and 115 feature Suzuki’s computer-controlled, multi-point sequential digital electronic fuel injection system for unparalleled power and efficiency. These new motors use "plate-style" injectors, similar to those on Suzuki’s racing motorcycle engines. Plate injectors vaporize fuel more efficiently than standard nozzle injectors, resulting in consistent power and a cleaner burn.

These engines also breathe better, thanks to tuned, four-into-two-into-one exhaust system – another Suzuki exclusive and the first performance exhaust of its kind available in the marine industry.

In addition, Suzuki’s new 90 and 115 are the only outboards to employ water cooling for the intake manifold, crankcase and fuel system. As a result, the density of the incoming air is kept at a higher state, ensuring instant, crisp acceleration, smooth performance and optimum efficiency across the powerband.

The benefits of Suzuki’s advanced engineering will be apparent the first time you turn the key on the 90 and 115. Solid state electronic ignition assures quick and reliable starts every time. An idle speed of 620 rpm – lower than competitive models – minimizes noise and vibration. These motors were designed for quietness and reduced vibration at all throttle levels, thanks in part to a larger volume air silencer, tuned intake track and a specially designed crankshaft, crankcase, engine mount and cowling.

Suzuki outboards are known for toughness and reliability on the water, and these new motors will be no exception. For cool performance under pressure, Suzuki has equipped the 90 and 115 with a new air ventilation system that draws in cool air and routes it directly over the coil windings of the high- output 40-amp alternator. Even the voltage regulator is water cooled for added reliability.

Suzuki’s new oil change reminder system – the first in the industry – tells the operator when it’s time to change the oil, eliminating guesswork. A 3000-rpm neutral rev limiter protects the engine from damage caused by over-revving in neutral. And for saltwater boaters, a fresh-water flush port makes it easy to flush the cooling system with a garden hose.

Like all 2001 model Suzuki four-stroke outboards, the new 90 and 115 are backed by an enhanced three-year limited warranty that covers all key engine components for the entire three years. For more peace of mind, an optional three-year Suzuki Extended Protection Plan is also available, offering boaters a total of six years of protection.
