August 28,2001 (Brea,Calif.)—Suzuki Marine, the world leader in fuel-injected four-stroke outboard motors, has added a new, compact, 140-horsepower model to its world-leading family of EFI four strokes. Suzuki's line of EFI four-stroke outboards now spans from 40 to 140 horsepower, making Suzuki the only manufacturer to offer boaters such a wide spectrum of fuel-injected four-stroke power.
Suzuki four-strokes are known for their quiet operation, powerful performance and compact, lightweight physical package. From shallow-water flats boats to offshore deep-vee sportfishers, from deck boats to walleye boats, from pontoon boats to bay boats, there's a Suzuki 4-stroke that's just right for practically any kind of outboard-powered boat.
The new DF140 four-stroke features a digitally fuel-injected 124.7 cu. in., inline four-cylinder powerhead with offset drive shaft for a low profile and compact dimensions. Weighing only 410 pounds (20" shaft; 25" shaft model weighs 421 pounds), this new outboard has the best power-to-weight ratio in its class.
The cowling has been aggressively engineered to accommodate a large air induction port for maximum intake. Under the hood, multi-point sequential fuel injection assures quick starts and crisp performance in all conditions.
The DF140 is just one model in Suzuki's EFI four-stroke line-up. Other models are available, as follows:
Suzuki 90/115 EFI Four-Strokes
These 90 and 115 horsepower models provide clean, efficient power for a wide variety of fresh and saltwater boats. Suzuki's proven 1950cc four-cylinder powerhead features a 16-valve, dual overhead cam (DOHC) design with an oil bathed timing chain underneath the block, a tuned 4-2-1 performance exhaust system, digital EFI with high-performance plate injectors, a beefy 40-amp alternator and many other technological advancements. Special care was taken by Suzuki engineers to make these motors as quiet and smooth as they are powerful.
Suzuki 60/70 EFI Four-Strokes
Introduced in 1998, these were the first four-stroke outboards to feature digital electronic fuel injection. These award-winning four-cylinder motors–based on Suzuki's proven inline 1.3-liter automotive engine–are extremely popular with boaters and fishermen across the country, who appreciate their fuel efficiency, quiet operation and rugged dependability under tough conditions. For 2002, a new corrosion-resistant composite material has been used for the long-track intake manifold. This new material is lightweight and provides a smooth, consistent inner surface for improved performance.
Suzuki 40/50 EFI Four-Strokes
Suzuki's mid-range 40 and 50 horsepower four-strokes came onboard for the 1999 model year, bringing a whole new level of performance and technology to the category. Owners of pontoon boats, rigid bottom inflatables, and aluminum fishing boats instantly embraced the only outboards in the class to feature electronic fuel injection. These award-winning motors are based on the three-cylinder in-line engine found in the Suzuki Wagon R mini van, one of the most popular cars in Japan. They were the first outboards to combine dual overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, an oil-bathed, self-adjusting timing chain, and a direct ignition system.
Suzuki offers a full line of outboard motors–with four-stroke models from 9.9 to 140 horsepower and two-stroke models with ratings of 5 horsepower, 6 horsepower, and 150 and 225 horsepower.
