When the EPA first announced its emissions standards requiring a more than 75-percent reduction of emissions from new outboard motors by 2006, SUZUKI proclaimed to the world that its experience with efficient, clean-running four-stroke automobile and motorcycle engines would help move the company rapidly to the forefront with a full line of four-stroke outboard motors.

With the introduction of three new V6 four-stroke outboards for the 2004 model year, SUZUKI MARINE has lived up to this promise, and has met its goal of establishing itself as the marine industry's four-stroke leader. During a period of only seven years (beginning with the 1998 model year), SUZUKI MARINE has converted its entire line-up of outboards to clean, fuel-efficient four-stroke technology. Today, SUZUKI MARINE offers a full line-up of 16 technologically advanced four-stroke motors ranging from a portable 4 HP to the new flagship 250 HP, boating's most powerful V-6 four-stroke outboard. Included in this impressive roster are ten motors featuring advanced electronic fuel injection, making SUZUKI the true "World Leader in Fuel Injected Four-Strokes."

"When it comes to converting from two-stroke to four-stroke, nobody has done it faster - or better - than Suzuki," said SUZUKI MARINE marketing director Larry Vandiver. "We're especially proud that along the way our four-strokes collected three NMMA Innovation Awards (for the 40/50, 60/70 and new 250 HP models) from the top boating writers in the nation. It is great to be recognized not only for developing breakthrough technology, but also for engineering four-stroke outboards that meet boaters' demands for performance, power and reliability," added Vandiver.

According to Vandiver, SUZUKI engineers will continue to expand and improve the company's line of four-stroke motors. "We've never been a company to rest on our laurels, so it's safe to say that boaters - and the boating industry - will continue to see great things from Suzuki in the future."
