June 2, 2003 (Key Largo, Fla.) - Today more than 80 top boating editors and writers from across
the U.S. and around the globe had their first opportunity to put SUZUKI MARINE's 2004 family
of V6 4-stroke outboards to the test on a wide variety of boats. SUZUKI earlier previewed these three outboards - a 200 HP, a 225 HP and the world's first 250 HP V6 4-stroke - before a crowd of press at the Miami International Boat Show, winning the show's 2003 Innovation Award. Today's event at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club marked the first time anywhere writers had the chance to put SUZUKI's new 4-strokes through their paces. Representatives from SUZUKI MARINE and the factory in Japan learned something important from the writers who traveled from around the U.S. as well as Columbia, South Africa, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Sweden, UK, Canada, Australia: "Wow" is the same in any language. "As expected, these beauties passed every test with flying colors," said SUZUKI MARINE Marketing Director Larry Vandiver, referring to both their striking good looks and strong performance on everything from aluminum walleye boats to offshore power catamarans. "Everybody was particularly impressed with the way these motors accelerated out of the hole and pulled hard all the way to wide-open-throttle." These motors boast a list of technical breakthroughs, including the first 55-degree V-block for a narrow, compact design, Variable Valve Timing (DF250) for improved low- and mid-range performance, multi-stage induction (DF250, DF225) for improved engine breathing at all rpm's, and the lowest gear ratio for superior hole-shot and top-end speed. |
